In Britain, we have a party to celebrate our birthdays. Everyone brings a small gift. My mum always makes me a birthday cake. We have a table full of food, crisps, sandwiches, small cakes and chocolate biscuits, ice cream and very small sausages you eat on a stick.
I just love them. We decorate the house with balloons and I play party games with my friends. It’s fantastic!

Many highland games take place all over Scotland every year. The most famous meeting is in Braemar, a small village in the Scottish Highlands. The games are always on the first Saturday in September.
Many athletes travel to Scotland each year to take part in the games. They compete in events like the hammer throw, shot put and the hill run. There are also music and dancing competitions. Marching bands perform for the crowds. They wear traditional clothing and play the bagpipes. Читать далее

The Aztecs lived in Mexico about seven hundred years ago. Their biggest city was Tenochtitlan. Houses were made of wood. Palaces and temples were made of stone. Around the city the Aztecs had farms and planted fruit and vegetables. They used tools to help them. They hunted and fished, too.
Aztec children learnt at home until they were fourteen years old. Then they started school. At school boys learnt to read and write. They didn’t write words. They used pictures. The pictures were called hieroglyphics. Girls learnt how to cook and sew. They also learnt how to look after children. The Aztecs loved games. They played a ball game on a special sports field.
